I first saw Squonk Opera perform at the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts when I was 17 and became an instant fan. Over the years I’ve followed them in Pittsburgh and by a stroke of luck, I was assigned to interview and photograph them when I interned for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust as an undergrad. Since then, Squonk Opera has become one of my favorite clients to work with and it is always exciting to see my photos promoting their performances.
Squonk was scheduled to premiere their new show at the Pittsburgh Regatta last weekend, until the entire event was unexpectedly cancelled only days beforehand. But Squonk knew that the show had to go on and arranged to premiere their show during the downtown night market in PPG Place. I attended the evening show to photograph Hand to Hand for the first time. Below are some of my favorite photos from the newest Squonk Opera show.
